  1. Manx Dictionary currently contains 27,550 words.The Manx Language - Yn
  2. Ghaelg.Manx is a Celtic language. The six modern Celtic languages fall
  3. into two main groups.These are the British or Brythonic group and the
  4. Gaelic or Goidelic group. The British group consists of Welsh, Breton
  5. and Cornish, while the Gaelic group comprises Irish, Scots Gaelic and
  6. Manx. A unified Gaelic language was once spoken throughout Ireland,
  7. the Isle of Man and most of Scotland. For various reasons, three
  8. distinct Gaelic languages then began to develop, leading to modern
  9. Irish, Scots Gaelic and Manx. These languages remain closely related,
  10. it being relatively easy to acquire aworking knowledge of the others
  11. if one has a good grounding in any one of them. Contrary to many
  12. reports, Manx is not extinct, and indeed is taught in all of the
  13. schools in the Isle of Man to those pupils who wish to learn it.Manx
  14. is no longer used as the main community language, which is now
  15. English, but the continuity of knowledge about it and the ability to
